Alexander Cassatt was the reluctant seventh president of the Pennsylvania RR from 1899 until his death in 1906. He previously had worked his way up through the ranks and left the railroad for 17 years beo=fore being recalled to become president. He led the PRR thought turbulent times and set in motion all elements for the construction of Pennsylvania Station in New York City. This is a fascinating history of a man who is not well know in the railway industry. Published in 1978 by Neale Watson Academic Publications, the author had access to Cassatt’s papers and family documents. The 208 page indexed book with a bibliography and B&W photos has a plastic sleeve over the paper jacket and is in fine used condition.
