This volume depicts streamlined steam locomotives and the American passenger train. For a brief period in railway history, shrouds were added to steam locomotives to make them appear modern and appeal to the public. Holland describes all the railroads involved in the steam streamlining era in 156 pages printed on high quality paper with fine B&W and color reproduction. Printed by TLC Publishing in 2002, in like new condition, you’ll discover how Dreyfuss, Kuhler, Lowey, Teague and Bel Geddes attempted to transform the traditional steam locomotive into rolling Art Deco and Moderne designs.
