This huge deluxe 312-page, 8 1/2 x 11” hardbound book tells the history of The Milwaukee Road in 10 chapters of authoritative text, and numerous quality black and white and color photographs! Special Locomotive and Passenger Train chapters are included.

The book covers this transcontinental granger railroad between the years of 1928 and 1985. The Milwaukee was a proud line that faced many challenges during its lifetime including transportation rivals, overtaking five mountain ranges and staying afloat financially.

Author Scribbins is an authority on The Milwaukee Road, having worked in the passenger, public relations and other departments, starting with the line in 1948.

Milwaukee Road Remembered by Jim Scribbins (W 32)

The University of Minnesota Press published this softbound reprint from 2008 of an earlier version published in 1990. Jim Scribbins has firsthand knowledge of the history and operations of the Milwaukee Road. This 168-page book uses B&W (with a few in color) photos, a glossary, and an index. The book is in very good used condition with some wear marks on the cover edges.

Railroading West by Jeffrey Brouws and Ronald Hill (W 18)

Between the 1960s and 1970s the authors captured western railroading in this 80 page index B&W paperbound volume with turbines, mountains, F units, E units, electric motors and lots more. Published in 1975 by Darwin Publications, this book is in very good used condition.

The Milwaukee Road West by Charles and Dorothy Wood (W 100)

In 192 pages the authors depict the varied history of the Milwaukee Road with coverage of the electric, diesel and steam operations covered with well captioned images and extensive text. A few color panels are included along with some schedules and maps. Published in 1972 by Superior Publishing, this first edition is in fine used condition and has a plastic sleeve over the paper jacket.

This paperbound volume describes operations east of Harlowton, MT between the 1920s and the lates 1970s in 175 pages. The B&W images are augmented by maps, schedules, consists and an index. The book is in used condition with nor tears and was published by Superior Publishing Co. in 1978.
